It has been an exceptional joy and honor to be a part of the growth of the Eureka programs and organization over the past 3 years- from the seed of an idea to producing a concert of all new works and invite fellow artists, to a full-fledged incubator program for emerging artists including mentorship, master classes and international guest artists.
The 2011 Eureka Dance Festival performance at Dance Place was an enormous success thanks to the hard work and passion of so many artists and community members in the DC-metro area. Over 40 artists directly collaborated to bring the concert to life; premiering nine new works (8 by local emerging artists and one by our International Guest Choreographer from Israel, Nir Ben Gal), full audiences and warm reviews. Your help in small ways and large ways has been tremendous.
After much thought and consideration of all aspects of Eureka Dance Festival, we have chosen to put a pause on program activities this year. We will both continue to be active supporters for the development of artists and new artistic work in the DC community and abroad.Kate will continue to pursue her free-lance choreographic, performing, and teaching interests through her work with Kate Jordan Dance Projects and other companies/organizations she is invited to work with. Orit will also continue to pursue her artistic work while teaching until the end of this year in DC when she and her family will move back to Israel.
